Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a selective and differential medium designed for the cultivation and isolation of fungi, including yeasts and molds. Its low pH (around 5.6) inhibits the growth of most bacteria, making it suitable for isolating fungi from mixed cultures. SDA is commonly used in clinical, research, and quality control settings to isolate pathogenic and non-pathogenic fungi, as well as for microbial limit tests in pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
