Positive pressure ventilation (PPV) is a respiratory therapy where air, or a mixture of air and oxygen, is delivered to the lungs under pressure. This process increases the pressure within the air sacs (alveoli) of the lungs, forcing air in and out. PPV can be invasive, using a tube inserted into the airway (intubation or tracheostomy), or non-invasive, using a mask.
