An analog blood pressure device, also known as a sphygmomanometer, is a medical instrument used to measure blood pressure. It typically consists of an inflatable cuff, a manometer (pressure gauge), and a stethoscope. The cuff is placed on the upper arm and inflated, and the pressure is then measured using the manometer, which can be a mercury or aneroid gauge. The stethoscope is used to listen for the sounds of blood flow as the cuff is deflated, allowing the practitioner to determine systolic and diastolic pressure.
