Dichloran Glycerol (DG-18) Agar is a selective medium used to isolate and enumerate yeasts and molds, particularly osmophilic and xerophilic species, from foods with low water activity. It’s characterized by its high glycerol content, which reduces water activity, and the addition of dichloran, an antifungal agent that helps with colony counting.
