Crest of Alveolar Bone (Maxillary) by Scantrik

The alveolar crest of the maxillary bone is the thin, marginal rim of bone that forms the coronal border of the tooth socket. It’s located approximately 1-2mm below the cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) in a healthy individual. The shape of the alveolar crest is influenced by the position of the CEJ in adjacent teeth, and it can appear narrow and pointed between anterior teeth or flat and angular between posterior teeth.
