Umbilical Artery by Scantrik

The umbilical arteries are paired blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood from the fetus to the placenta within the umbilical cord. They originate from the internal iliac arteries and travel through the cord to deliver waste products and carbon dioxide to the placenta for exchange. After birth, the umbilical arteries typically obliterate and form the medial umbilical ligament.
