A TB Lymphocyte Proliferation Kit, also known as a total blood lymphocyte proliferation (TLP) assay, is a diagnostic tool used to assess the body’s immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), the bacteria that causes tuberculosis. This test measures the ability of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) to proliferate (multiply) in response to TB-related antigens like PPD (purified protein derivative). It can be used as a screening test for M. tuberculosis infection and is often compared to the tuberculin skin test (Mantoux test).
