The ELISPOT (Enzyme-Linked Immunospot) test for tuberculosis is a blood test that detects the presence of T cells that are activated by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) antigens. Specifically, it measures the amount of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) produced by these TB-specific T cells when stimulated by TB antigens. The test helps diagnose latent or active tuberculosis infection.
