The system uses sensors to detect when the vehicle is stationary, such as at a traffic light or in stop-and-go traffic. It then shuts off the engine, but keeps the electrical systems (like radio, lights, and climate control) running via the vehicle’s battery. When the driver releases the brake pedal or accelerates, the system restarts the engine.
